Catching Up

I am way behind with pictures and posts. Last month was awesome! My best friend Tomomi flew in from Oregon to visit. I was excited to see her and even more excited for her to see Sawyer! The last time she laid eyes on him, he was 9 months old, an entire lifetime ago in baby years.

Sawyer, of course loved her. We went to store one day to buy flip flops and every time she would wander a few feet away to where he couldn't see her, he'd yell out, "Tomomi, Tomooooomi". His voice carries ridiculously far so everyone from the front to the back of the entire store could hear him. For a full week after she left, Sawyer would point to the air bed in the guest room/play room and say, "Tomomi's bed".

Walking to the beach.
In early April, my friend Nelson and his family flew in from CA to go on a cruise to the Bahamas. Their ship was sailing out of Miami so I got a chance to meet up with them one day. We decided to meet at the Miami Children's Museum. Nelson has 2 small children as well so it worked out great! The kids had so much fun at the musuem, they didn't want to leave!

Sawyer grocery shopping at kid's sized, Publix grocery store. Here he is picking out veggies to put in his cart.

Sawyer could not get enough of these instruments. He spent a good amount of time playing with them. I have a feeling he's going to be a musician. Whenever he gets around instruments his attention span seems to increase tenfold.

The museum was really something. You could spend all day there. I thought I had taken better pictures, but apparently not.

Memorial Day

Sawyer hurt his right foot last week and couldn't walk for a full week! We took him to the Dr. to find out what was wrong. X-rays and blood tests all came back fine. We think he either sprained it or dropped something on his foot. There were no bruises only slight swelling. He's limping a lot less today than yesterday. We're just glad he's finally walking again, poor baby!

He'd be asking to go to the beach and build sandcastles all week! We finally took him on Monday, once he started walking a little.

Enya

I have not abandoned this blog. Things have been unbelievably hectic lately, but I will update this week.

Today our beloved dog Enya had surgery in both of her eyes. She had cysts that needed to be removed. Unfortunately, the cyst in her right eye grew so fast and built up so much pressure that it caused her right eye to go blind. She now has a prosthetic right eye, but it moves just as her real eye would. Her left eye is still good. However, they were not able to remove the cyst entirely due to where it is located. We'll have to keep an eye on it going forward to make sure it doesn't grow and cause irreparable damage.

Enya needs 4 different eye drops in her eyes several times a day in addition to pain meds. She's in so much pain, it's heartbreaking. I've cried so much today, I don't have any more tears left. I'm not even sure if what I'm typing makes any sense.

Cliff is taking her to the vet tomorrow for a follow up. Sawyer is super concerned about her too and misses his play mate.

Speaking in sentences

I can't get over the fact that Sawyer now speaks more like a little boy instead of a baby. This morning I asked him what he was doing and he replied, "I play outside with Yaya." That's what he calls our dog Enya. Then, later on he tells me, "I want to sit in the chair."

Yesterday, he told me he wanted to go swimming so he can kick his feet in the water and blow bubbles and play the hokey pokey. It's amazing to hear him speak. I love that he can now express his wants and needs to me.

Veggies

I'm so excited! We've just discovered that Sawyer loves brussels sprouts, asparagus, and avocado sandwiches. I struggle to get him to eat his veggies, so any veggie he will eat without being bribed is a cause for celebration!
