We're moving!

We are moving to Fairfax, Virginia at the end of July! We can't wait to start our new lives there. For awhile, we were considering Austin, but decided to move to VA instead to be closer to family. We'll be able to spend all holidays with family, summers at the lake house water skiing and boating, skiing/snowboarding in the winter, and much more.

It's hard to believe we've been in Florida for 7 years. So much has happened here: bought a house, got married, had 2 kids, my Mother passed away here. There will definitely be many good memories, but I can't say I'll miss living here. The 2 biggest things I will miss are the weather and the beach.

Local Fun

Green Cay Nature Center

This place is just a few blocks from our house. I use to take Sawyer here every so often when he was little to ride his Mopi on the boardwalk. Now that he's older, he doesn't like it so much. There isn't much to do or much of nature see here.

Turtles at the Park

We saw these 2 turtles walking freely in the park. We thought they were wild, but turns out they are pets. The owner encouraged Sawyer to get up close and touch them. I was surprised how fast these little suckers moved! This is the closest Sawyer has ever gotten to a turtle. Apparently, you can catch salmonella from these little guys so you have to wash your hands really well after you touch them. The owner of these turtles forgot to mention this till after Sawyer manhandled them to death.

Swimming Pool

Cliff has been taking Sawyer swimming at our community pool. In a matter days, he's made huge strides. He has no fear of the water and loves to show off his skills.

South Florida Science Museum

This was a small museum more suited for small children than adults. We made our entire way around in less than 1 hour. Admission for us was free. I would not recommend paying the $10+ per person to get in. There are much better museums for families in South Florida.

Sky at 3 weeks

Today, Sky is 3 weeks old and weighs 9.2 pounds, an impressive gain since birth. This puts her above the 50th percentile in terms of weight. Her chubbiness is simply irresistible! I love squeezing her baby fat and hugging her chunky body in my arms.

Sky is also a good sleeper. She sleeps in 3 to 4 hour stretches, which is surprising for an exclusively breast fed baby. The problem is when she is up! For the past week, she has been experiencing excessive gas, which causes her to cry and become fussy, poor thing. While some gas is expected, due to being a newborn, I suspect my diet is making the situation worse. I am in the process of figuring out what I need to eliminate.
