Loves to stand

Sawyer loves to pull himself up and stand every chance he gets. He always looks so proud of himself when he does it too.

My little twin, being active, new bedtime

I came across an old baby picture of mine. Does Sawyer look like me or what? The resemblance is uncanny. He has his Daddy's head/face shape and nose though.

I've been exhausted for the past several weeks. I can barely keep up with Sawyer, he is so active. He's only 8 months old, but I feel like I already have a toddler. He crawls everywhere at lightning speed and wants to grab a hold of everything in sight. He loves to stand up too. 2 days ago he cried out mamamama while looking directly at me. My heart melted, although I have no idea whether he really meant Mama. Most likely, he was just practicing making sounds, but I loved hearing it nonetheless.

We've also established a new bedtime of 8pm as he was going to bed way too late. He's been going to bed at this new time for the past 2 weeks. It was a struggle at first, but now he falls asleep almost as soon as I put him down in his crib. Starting next week, I'm going to try moving his bedtime earlier to 7:30pm. Getting him on a sleep schedule is the best thing I have done! I just wish I didn't wait so long to do it.

Lounging Around

I love these pictures of Sawyer from last Friday! He looks so comfy in his chair. He's still a little too small for it though and needs to be supervised. He can sit in it just fine, but when he tries to stand up, he ends up falling on his delicate little head.

1st Swim, 1st Pony Ride, 1st Party

Sawyer went to his very first birthday party this weekend and had a blast! Our friends Darren and Shelbie threw a huge bash for their son Von's 1st birthday. Most of the kids there were around Sawyer's age, give or take a few months, so it was fun to see him interact with other babies.

The theme of the party was "Barnyard Bash". They set up a petting zoo in their backyard with 2 ponies, several goats, rabbits, turtles, and llamas. Sawyer rode on a pony for the 1st time! I held him and walked beside the pony as he sat in the saddle. He seemed to enjoy himself and didn't seem scared at all. I was so proud of him!

Sawyer also went swimming for the 1st time! After lathering him up with sunscreen and putting on a hat, Cliff took him into the pool. He put him in a baby float. At first, Sawyer wasn't quite sure how he felt about it. But then after a few minutes, he was lovin' it! Cliff could barely keep up with Sawyer once he learned how to kick his feet. Sawyer kept swimming over to the waterfall. He loved touching the water running down into the pool.

Sawyer also made several new friends. He met another adorable Hapa named Jaden. Jaden is 11 months. As we were getting both boys ready for the pool, they started wrestling with each other. It was like, "Hey, you're a baby, I'm a baby, let's play!".

Sawyer with Jaden and Von, the birthday boy!

We were at the party all afternoon and into the evening. Needless to say, Sawyer was exhausted. He was such a good sport though. He didn't cry or fuss once. We were afraid that he was going to feel over stimulated with all the newness: new people, new babies, new activites, but he loved it all. One thing we've noticed about Sawyer is that he doesn't seem to be afraid of trying new things and seems to be a bit of an adrenaline junkie. lol...

Once we were back home, Sawyer looked so happy to be back on his own turf!

Sawyer is standing up!

Sawyer completely stood up in his crib tonight all by himself! Cliff and I were standing next to his crib playing with him when he all of a sudden pulled himself up by the guardrail and stood up. He stood there for several minutes grinning from ear to ear. Sweet Pea looked so proud of his new accomplishment! To our knowledge, this is the first time he's done this.

After seeing him do it, I quickly ran and got the camera. We cheered him on to do it again so Mommy could get a good shot and he did!

Growing Up Fast

This past week I've really noticed a change in Sawyer's face. He's getting older. Every week he is looking less like a baby and more like a little boy and it makes me sad. I just wish time would slow down just a bit for me to enjoy him at this stage a little longer.

Here he is in his lucky red baby Chuck's, my favorite boy shoes.

2 New Teeth and Diaper Struggles

My little Angel Cake has 2 new teeth! His 2 lower front ones are the 1st to come in. They aren't fully grown out yet, but you can definitely see them.

I have been struggling with diaper changes lately. Sawyer simply refuses to sit still. He rolls over and tries to crawl away as soon as that diaper comes off. I have to quickly turn him back around onto his back. By the time I lift his legs up to clean, he's already twisted his upper body around again so that he's on his stomach. All this before I even reach for a wipe. There have been many a times where I've had to clean him practically upside down. He looks absolutely ridiculous, but it gets the job done.
