Baby in a box

Here's Sawyer playing with a box. He loves this box and screamed bloody murder when we tried to take it from him. After we took him out of the box, he tried to get back in.

Sawyer and Mama

We finished decorating our tree this weekend. I hate the process of putting up a tree, but I love it once it's up. Our home feels so warm and festive. Look how big Sawyer's smile is in this picture. I love it!

Catching up

I don't want the year to go by without posting some pictures of my little Sawyer from the last couple of months. We've been busy turning 1, going to the zoo, going to Kindermusik, playing in the park, and going on play dates. He is so much fun at this age! It just keeps getting better the older he gets.

Sawyer at the Pumpkin Patch right before Halloween. He loved running around the patch! Unfortunately, he came down with a fever of 102 a couple days after right on Halloween. :-(

A sweet moment with Enya.

Sawyer's first visit to the beach

We took Sawyer to the beach for the very first time this past weekend! We wanted to wait until he could walk before taking him. It took him awhile to get use to the sand, but the water, he loved right away. Cliff carried Sawyer out into the ocean where he could feel the waves crashing onto his feet and he loved it! He couldn't get enough and wanted to be in the water from then on. We can't wait to go again! Fortunately here in Florida, Summer lasts well into October.

Sawyer is walking!, Compelling Documentary, Baby Weight

Sawyer started walking all by himself, with no support 3 days ago! I am such a proud Mama right now! My little baby is growing more independent every day. Am I really ready for this? It is so funny and a bit surreal to see him walking around the house.

I just finished watching, "The Business of Being Born", a very compelling documentary about how profits are driving the business of birthing. I loved it! I got choked up seeing Ricki Lake and Mayra give birth, especially Ricki. It made me want to relive Sawyer's birth. The film talked a lot about midwifery. Having gone to a midwife my entire pregnancy and beyond, I am a huge supporter of going that route!

For months now, I've been struggling to lose the last 20 lbs of baby weight. No matter what I do, short of starving myself, the weight just won't come off. My midwife says it's because I'm breastfeeding. Although you hear mostly about how breastfeeding supposedly helps you lose weight, this isn't true for any of the women I know. They've all said that the weight didn't come off until after they stopped breastfeeding. So, there might be hope yet that I will eventually return to my pre-pregnancy size of 2. It's all worth it though and I don't plan on giving up breastfeeding anytime soon.

I have a ton of new pictures to post of Sawyer tomorrow or later this week.

Sawyer adores his Dad, Baby Proofing

Sawyer goes crazy for Cliff! He just loves playing with his Dad so much. They've got the whole dude thing goin' on. He'll squeal and scream just to get his attention. Whatever Cliff is up to, Sawyer has to go check it out! Here he is trying to get a bite of Cliff's cereal. I live for moments like this.

Sawyer is *the* speed crawling champ! He loves to crawl freely around the house, touch, and explore everything he can get his little hands on. I have to keep my eye on him at all times because it only takes a few seconds for him to get into trouble. This morning, I caught him playing in the toilet in the master bath. How completely disgusting is that? He had a toy in there and was swirling it around in the water. I turned around for just a few seconds and this is what he does. I am currently in the process of baby proofing the house, but hadn't gotten to the toilet yet. Needless to say, the toilet is now baby proofed!

New camera, playdate fun, favorite new toy

We just bought a new DSLR camera! It arrived today and I've been having so much fun playing with it. There are so many features! I'm learning all about apertures and depth of field. Look at how crisp this photo is! I think I've found a new hobby.

We got together with the Seys and the Shins this past Sunday at the Sey's house. Sawyer was able to play with his 2 little friends again, Von & Jaiden. We all had so much fun! Enya, our dog, went along too. She made friends with Amber, the Sey's golden retriever.

The boys look scared, don't they? lol. Sawyer wasn't too sure what to make of it at first. I covered him in a ton of sunscreen which caused him to slip and slide a bit in the pool.

Sawyer's favorite new toy is this workbench complete with tools: a screwdriver, a wrench, and a hammer. Part of the reason he loves it so much is because he can stand up while playing.

Food and Fun

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last updated! It's mind boggling how fast the days go by. Once again, I'm too exhausted to write much tonight, so I'll just post pics from the past week or 2.

We had a dinner party at our house. Paully and JJ were in town so we went all out and bbq'ed up a feast! Look how good the food turned out!

We all loved the teriyaki chicken so much we cooked it again the next night and the night after that! We cooked out on the grill more this week than we have all year.

Group shot.

I took some fantastic shots of Sawyer with Paully's SLR camera! I loved his camera so much, I took 500+ pics of my little Soy Soy with it. Now, I want one!

We took Sawyer out for sushi with us last weekend. He sat in a high chair with all grown ups and loved every minute of it! He thoroughly enjoyed pounding his hands on the menu and babbling.

We had a playdate at Jean's house early this morning. Jean, Sophie, and I met 3 1/2 years ago, before the kiddies. Our lives have changed dramatically since then! Sophie's son Jake is so sweet. He gave Sawyer a hug and then later on, a kiss. Jean's son Clinton is hilarious. He quickly ran over when he saw me changing Sawyer's diaper and in a split second, grabbed Saywer's penis. It caught me completely off guard so I screamed. haha.. Apparently, Clinton has recently started to become aware of penises.

Sawyer loves to cruise around our coffee table! He will hold on to the edge and walk around it over and over.
My 2 boys looking out the window.

Sawyer is such a good little boy when he goes shopping with me.

Here he is at Publix with Dada.
