First trip back to SF

Sawyer and I flew cross country to SF last weekend for Rich and Amo's wedding. It was an arduous journey, but well worth it! We flew from West Palm Beach to Atlanta, then caught a connecting flight into SFO. The entire trip took about 8 hours. Sawyer sat on my lap and wiggled continuously the entire 1st flight. He didn't much like being confined. I tried directing his attention to the new toys I had brought, but he was completely disinterested. The 2nd flight (5 hours) was considerably more tolerable because he was entertained almost the entire time by everyone sitting around us. The people on that flight were exceptionally nice! It also helped that there were several babies on board. Directly behind us was a 7 month old who Sawyer was able to play with for awhile.

After getting our luggage, we met up with Tomomi, who flew in at the same time from Portland. It was such a pleasure to introduce Sawyer to my BFF for the very 1st time!

The apartment we rented in the Inner Sunset, my old stomping grounds, surpassed all expectations. We had expected a tiny studio, but the place was huge! The owner was even kind enough to buy a new porta crib for Sawyer to use.

Saturday Tomomi, Sawyer and I drove out to Oakland to meet up with my good friends Linda, Will, and their son Brandon (3), who I was about to meet for the very 1st time. Our friend Jason also stopped by for a short time with his son, Jaden (3). We met up at a cute little place called Tumble & Tea. Unfortunately, they were closing up right as we got there, so we headed off to Cafe Milano in Berkeley where Brandon sang songs for us and took pictures.

Saturday evening, we attended an outdoor bbq to celebrate Rich and Amo's impending nuptials. It was great fun catching up with old friends and acquaintances who I hadn't seen in a long time. I was so proud to introduce Sawyer to everyone. He was so good the entire time, just content being carried around in the Ergo. Rich and Amo were both beaming with joy and happiness surrounded by family and close friends.

Late Saturday night, Tomomi and I stayed up late chattering and eating Chinese in our pajamas, just like old times. The last time we saw each other, I was 6 months pregnant.

Sunday was wedding day at Kelly's Mission Rock! However, before the wedding, we somehow managed to sneak over to the newly remodeled SF shopping center and Fillmore street, where we spied a new Marc by Marc Jacobs store. Tomomi wisely suggested we go in. Had we not, we would have missed out on these adorable shoes at 70% off! The same shoes we drooled over 30 minutes prior at Bloomies, but at only 40% off. I didn't buy them then because I have a moral objection to buying shoes that cost over $100. However, at 70% off, they were a steal! So, we ended up getting matching pairs.

The wedding ceremony began at 5pm with guests seated in a circle surrounding the bride and groom as they said their vows. The reception began right afterward with a buffet dinner, speeches, and dancing. Sawyer was extremely cranky by this time because his body was telling him it's 9pm, est, why am I not in bed? It was way past his usual bedtime of 7:30pm, est. My poor sleep deprived baby finally passed out in his stroller sometime around 9, I think.

Monday, Sawyer and I spent the afternoon with Rich and co. before heading off to the airport.

As much as I enjoyed the weekend and being back in the city, it felt really good to be home back with Cliff and Enya!

It was great to see you and meet Sawyer. He's even cuter in person. Love the shoes! Wish I could've gotten a matching pair. Hope you have recovered from the journey. We're going back up again on Thursday for my brother-in-law's wedding. Ronan will be the ring bearer and wear his now broken-in suit. Hope we'll be able to get him to wear the tie for more than 5 seconds. take care!

Thanks Debbie! It was great seeing you too and meeting Ronan for the 1st time. What a happy little boy and so full of energy! He's going to look so handsome in his little suit as the ring bearer this weekend. Have a safe drive up!
